Something slightly less flippant

The blog I posted last night was quite flippant and I apologise. A lot of very serious things are happening at the moment, and someone was bugging me to update.
I visited two people in hospital yesterday, I'll deal with the second visit first.
My Grandmother (dad's side) is in hospital. She was committed with breathing difficulties and had water on her lungs. Early indications suggests that her heart wasn't pumping hard enough. When we (mum, dad and me) visited her last night, her heart was racing for a period, and then it would settle down to normal rhythm for a bit, and then race again. It's sacry place to visit and grandma was attached to much equipment (monitoring mostly).
Earlier in the day, I visited current girlfriend before her minor surgery later in the day. She was bored because she was admitted at 11am and her surgery was at 6pm. It was nice to see her, and I think she appreachated it. The surgery went well, she is home now but still in some pain.
It's a sightly unconfortable place to be keeping in touch with ex-girlfriend. On the other hand, it was a lack of information from her which created some of the strangness. She has had an interesting couple of years (from what I know). She is pregant (it is not mine - just to clarify). Some things are just not going her way.
I didn't expect most of what happened at the beginning of the year. It has certainly been an interesting year for me - not completely good, not completely bad, just different.
