LCA2006: Day 2

Day two. It's hot, it was a good day. Surprising, even.
The morning Sys-Admin Lightning Talks were interesting. Then I headed over to Digital Arts to listen to a talk on the state of Open Source Game Development. The presenter was on the otherside of the world, and the organisers couldn't get the multimedia stream (h323) to go. So as I put up the posters for Worldforge and Thousand Parsec they asked me to talk for a bit. I ended up talking for nearly 45 minutes! There was a good lot of supportive people, and some that were really interested. So that went well. Even sold a CD, only 9 more before I need to burn some more.
After that bit of excitement, I went back to Sys admin miniconf, and heard about some potentially useful tools. When I get home to Christchurch I might try them out. Had some lunch and then OSDW for the talk on KDevelop. I've been meaning to get into KDevelop again, and it does actually look quite good.
The most of the rest of the afternoon I spend at the Debian miniconf. As a non-debian developer, I wasn't aware of who's who and some of the issues, but hearing about what HP is using linux for and using Debian in a rocket were very interesting. To finish off the day, I saw most of the last Digital Arts miniconf presention about how linux was used in a video special effects/post production (I'm not actually sure, missed the beginning) environment. Some of the issues about sysadmin were quite topical, and I will have to keep them in mind.
I've had issues uploading photos, so I could be really slow (only a few photos a day), or might have to wait to get home.
