LCA2006: Day 6 and after

Posted 2006-01-31-1153

The final day of the conference was fairly good, made better by the arrive of my fiancee.

The morning's keynote by Mark Shuttleworth was interesting and touched on what we had discussed at the Game Development BoF. He is a really smart person.

The One of our Maintainers is Missing seminar was good. It basically boils down to good software engineering practice (documentation) and being social and sharing of knowledge.

The BBQ lunch was ok. And it was funny to see some people losing hair for fundraising. I doubt I would ever be famous enough for someone to pay to cut my hair (not that I would probably let them anyway, it would have to be a really great cause). The afternoon tea was nice too, ice creames and chocolate strawberries.

The Lightning talks were interesting, but I didn't get a chance to give mine. I was going to talk about Thousand Parsec and WorldForge, but after the Game Development BoF, I had decided to talk about that. I must get organised and sort something out.

The Panel was somewhat interesting, but not as intelligent as I might have hoped.

I didn't win anything, so the closing sucked. It wasn't that bad really.

It's Tuesday lunchtime now, so that shows how much email and catching up I had to do. The trip back here was good, hot as it has been for the last week. We had great weather at the conference. I've given away two of my ubuntu CDs already, Linux is getting more popular. I did sell (or trade) all of the TP and WF cds that I created and took with me.

I am very happy that I attended LCA2006. I have started planning attending LCA2007, pending money.
